Amazon MGM Studios Developing ‘Razzlekhan, Film On $3 Billion Crypto Theft From Hannah Marks; Lili Reinhart Among Producers

Exclusive . Amazon MGM Studios has begun development on Razzlekhan , a new film inspired by a 2022 New York Times article and directed by Hannah Marks ( Don't Make Me Go ) from her own screenplay.

The film is inspired by the true story of Ilya Lichtenstein and Heather Morgan, a millennial couple who stole over $3 billion worth of cryptocurrency before being caught by the Department of Justice. The film's title comes from the stage name of the latter rapper, who was charged by the FBI, along with Lichtenstein, in February 2022 with conspiring to launder stolen bitcoins.

Lili Reinhart and Katherine Hagedorn of Small Victory Productions will produce the film under a first-look deal with Amazon MGM Studios. Caitlin Roper and Sophia Smith of The New York Times are also producing the film.

Marks, who recently directed an adaptation of John Green's bestselling novel Turtles All Way Down , which premiered on Max this spring, previously starred opposite John Cho in the father-daughter drama Don't Make Me. Other previous credits include Lorene Scafaria's Hustlers , Prime Video's Chemical Hearts, which she produced and directed alongside Austin Abrams, and The CW's Riverdale.
