The Game Awards 2023 was as weird and wonderful as we hoped, giving us Chris Judge, Sam Lake's perfect dance and… an Apex Legends FF7 collaboration? While we certainly don't have bingo cards in our bingo cards, we're equally excited and anxious about what Respawn and Square-Enix have in store for PS5 , Xbox , and other Apex Legends players. Thanks to a new leak, we can learn a lot more about who's in the running for the shiny new Apex Legends FF7 skins .
As HYPERMYST announced on Twitter, Crypto, Horizon and Wraith - the three characters first introduced in the Apex Legends FF7 trailer - will join Newcastle, Valkyrie and Wattson in the Iconic department, and Lifeline will get an epic skin. While the leaker doesn't specify which FF7 characters the Iconic series will emulate in the game, we can make some educated guesses about Barret and Yuffie, as well as Newcastle and Valkyrie.
Wattson, however, is a harder legend to find. Based on the rest of the team, we could easily imagine Cait Sith wearing a sweet skin with a cape and crown. However, we certainly wouldn't complain if he was good given his revival in the remake trilogy. Sure, the development duo could come completely out of left field and become Sephiroth, but thematically Cait Sith makes more sense given her robot companion.
In addition to the aforementioned Legend skins, according to HYPERMYST Nemesis, Mastiff and CAR SMG will also receive epic skins. We assume they are based on Barrett's arsenal of weapons, including the Big Bertha, EKG cannon, Gatling guns and light machine guns. Of course, these are just his weapons from the FF7 Remake and this is an FF7 Rebirth event, so we'll get a preview of what Barrett will be bringing with him when the FF7 release date finally arrives Rebirth.
While we haven't seen what the final "skins" for these characters will look like when the leak happens, we're already excited to see the collaboration between the creator of one of the best FPS games and the creator of one of the best RPG games . . . about - Apex and FF7R both have a place on our best games list, so perhaps it's only natural that we're getting our wallets ready for January 9th.
The Apex Legends FF7 event isn't the first high-profile collaboration we've seen from Respawn this year. At the beginning of November, the studio launched a special LTM mode and a series of skins in collaboration with music mastermind Post Malone, apparently to give the game a big impact in the same way that Call of Duty and Fortnite have been influenced a lot. Success has happened in the past.
While it's great to see pop culture getting into one of the best battle royale games around, Apex players have been more and more in control lately.
