Cryptocurrency price tracking website CoinMarketCap is venturing into reality TV with a competition show called Killer Whales inspired by the popular TV series Shark Tank.
In partnership with Web3 entertainment company Hello Labs, the new program allows entrepreneurs to pitch their projects to a killer whale jury made up of Web3 entrepreneurs, influencers and business founders. Hello Labs was founded by MTV VMA producer Paul Caslin.
"Killing Wells is an exciting and exciting opportunity to bring the entrepreneurial power of the Web3 space into homes around the world," said Jonathan Isaacs, Chief Marketing Officer of CoinMarketCap, in a press release.
Starting May 2, interested parties can submit their applications to Hello.one and CoinMarketCap, and those selected will undergo several rounds of interviews in Hollywood. The show will begin filming in June and will be available on major streaming services as well as on Hello Labs' on-demand Hello TV service.
"Our goal is to open the door to the next billion Web3 users by entertaining and educating them about all things cryptocurrency," Hello Labs CEO Sander Gortis said in a statement.
Several Web3-related TV shows have emerged in recent months, highlighting various use cases for blockchain technology and the growing interest in cryptocurrencies among media users. Rick and Morty co-creator Dan Harmon He's showing a show on Fox called Krapopolis in 2023. The show issued its first batch of 10,420 Chicken Krap worthless tokens (NFTs) in August, allowing holders to vote on the plan. Access items, exclusive content and earn rewards.
Other existing NFT collections explore the use of their intellectual property (IP) in multimedia. Web3 community NounsDAO has approved movie and TV show offerings, colorful collection NFT Doodles recently acquired Emmy-nominated animation studio Golden Wolf, and announced plans to expand the Doodles franchise through storytelling.
