Apex Legends has been narratively quiet for several seasons. While the various storylines are still up in the air, from Crypto and Ash's plan to Valkyrie working with the Revenant after Lobo, recent seasons haven't done much to advance the story.
However, that will change in season 17, as narrator Ashley Reed teases that the team wants to tell "deeper, bigger stories" about the Apex games and the wider universe in the near future. While the fruits of that labor won't be in front of players when it premieres on May 9, "something special" should happen midway through the season.
The news comes during a recent press event where Reid discussed both the stories told in the new POI World's Edge and future plans for Apex .
" Apex is in its fifth year, and there's a rich source of design and art from this museum, and we want to explore that by telling deeper and bigger stories about the world," Reid said. "We also want to tell deeper stories about the characters our players know and love."
Battle Royale has managed to tell those deep stories in the past with events like The Broken Ghost Quest or The Williams Sendoff Chronicle, but struggled to meet the expectations of the audience that wants more stories about their legends. . Announcing big things doesn't necessarily mean something will change, but chances are we'll see a quality story more often.

"In addition to these big stories, we have something special planned for this season that we can't talk about yet, but we want to keep our eyes open as the midseason approaches," Reid said.
That's up for debate, but the prospect of interesting things about Apex's story is a much-needed adrenaline rush after several narratively lacking seasons.
