An Apex Legends player tried TikTok's viral 'double and pass' trend with protective batteries.
As creators move away from simply posting dance videos, asking strangers to participate in some sort of social experience has become its own subcategory on TikTok.
Most of these videos are about interviewing people on the street, but they seem to be slowly spreading to video games.
One Twitch streamer in particular decided to put his Apex Legends friends to the test and see who would be generous enough to lure and release…
For the experiment, he used one of the consumables in the game that completely restores your shield, called shield batteries.
A streamer named Anthony Romero first found a nearby Crypto player and asked them to pick up or double the protective battery and pass it on to the next player.
Generous Krypto went for the second option, but it's not like he missed out on much, as this item is pretty common unless you're late game and need to heal.
Romero then meets a frustrated Wyatt, who is not standing still, and asks him the question at hand.
Indeed, with Romero, White's player shamelessly looted the dead chest and passed the loot.
Bloodhound then defeats the Mad Magi player and offers the player four stacks of shields... only to be ignored again.
Romero approaches the Octane player to complete the reward cycle, though the other guy steals the shield batteries and runs away before the streamer can claim it.
Finally, Octane is the fastest character in Apex Legends, although Loba has a reputation as a skilled thief.
The 'Double and Pass' trend was first started by TikToker John Rusanov, who first offered passengers $20 (£16).
The trend is so popular that even popular YouTuber MrBeast has released his own version, where people in supermarkets take $1,000 (£808) or a random person $10,000 (£8,088).
Because MrBeast never disappoints when it comes to giving money because even those who choose the second option will be rewarded with the same amount.
Perhaps Romero's next move is to offer something more valuable than a shield, perhaps Apex Coins.
