A natural consequence of creating shooters with heroes with different characters and abilities is that some characters are more popular than others. While developers generally try to create characters with abilities that suit different playstyles and player preferences, there will inevitably be characters with abilities that are more useful than others, or more enjoyable for the average person. And that happened in Apex Legends too .
Interestingly, the most popular characters for people playing Apex are not the characters that some of the top players consider "the best". Pros rarely play legendary characters like Pathfinder, Octane, and Wraith, but they have one of the highest pick rates in the entire game. This is usually because heroes have fun and cool movement abilities, or lone fighters just get hot and squishy.
Some characters that are rarely seen in the game are actually not the worst characters in terms of power levels. Some of these less playable characters may have weaker or less interesting abilities. But others are actually pretty strong in the right hands. They simply require a play style that is less obvious or preferred by the average player base.
According to Apex Legends Status (ALS), which we use to determine the current Least Played Character, there are nine playable characters that have been picked in over four percent of games (Octane currently has the highest pick level at 11). percent). Then there are the other nine characters, who average between four and two percent picks in the game. But deep down, there are five legends that are chosen less than two percent of the time.
From passive styles to characters that players don't like, these are the least played legends in Apex .
5) Gibraltar
Gibraltar has long been a mystery to the Apex Balance team. He is one of the most influential legends of the game at the highest level, both in the ranks and professionally. You often see every team picking Gibraltar in an ALGS game. On the other hand, he's never been a popular Legendary pick for the entire Apex player base , and that's likely because he's a defensive Legend that prioritizes timing and teamwork. This is still true as the current labor force participation rate is 1.9 percent.
Adapting to his team in difficult situations is the best quality of Gibraltar. Dome of Defense can protect a team from just about anything, allowing Gibraltar to quickly and safely reanimate fallen teammates, while her ultimate is often more useful for limiting range than for kills. With the advantages of its fortifications and armor, Gibraltar is also a beast in close combat. But when playing against an uncoordinated team, Gibraltarians often stay away from overly aggressive teammates. And without his movement abilities and huge hitboxes, it's easy to lose character after character if you don't land all the hits.
For many players, Apex means fast switching between fights. And while you can play as a character racing across the map with grappling hooks, jump platforms, gravity lifts, or invulnerable portals, Gibraltar looks a bit mundane.
4) Crazy Maggie
Mad Maggie is a rather odd case in the category of most underrated legends. According to the ALS, he played just 1.8% of the time and is the only offensive legend in the bottom five. In fact, stormtrooper characters are usually the most popular characters in games, occupying the top two spots (Octane and Wraith) and four of the six in Legends.
Even Fuse, which is similar to Mad Maggie in many ways, has almost twice the pick speed. Both characters are focused on dealing damage without a significant movement advantage. In fact, Maggie has a lot more moves than Fuse thanks to her wrecking ball, and the ability to move is usually a sure sign that a legend is about to become popular.
While it's not entirely clear why Apex players don't like playing as Maggie, it's probably just a matter of personality. He has a lot of abilities that put him on par with other offensive characters with much higher recovery rates, but his association with Season 8's popular LTM probably still leaves a mark on most Apex players. Events in Chaos Theory and War Games were supposed to introduce several new time periods into the game, but technical issues prevented some time modes from lasting more than a day. Instead, players are given the same LTM over and over again, with each LTM commented by Crazy Maggie, who frequently yells and insults the team and players.
The reception of Crazy Maggie when she was later introduced as a playable character was poor, and she is the only character released in the last year and a half that has failed to reach the 10% acquisition rate immediately upon launch, when new characters are usually added. . . take prices. and withdraw immediately. It's not just that Maggie doesn't have enough cool abilities to make her the best choice for an offensive class. General mood and connection to the interrupted event also seem to have a lasting effect on speedy recovery.
3) fortress
Rampart is another defensive legend at the bottom of this list with a 1.7% pick rate in the SLA. Unlike Maggie, Rampart's place here isn't much of a secret; He's a character who doesn't get better by progressing, but by getting into good positions and holding them.
Rook was not too weak, but not too strong either. She had come a long way since her release, when she could only use her Ultimate Sheila in a permanent, limited form. The move to use Sheila on the run gave Rampart a much-needed boost and transition to a more active playstyle, but the thing is, she's still not the best character to fight. Its tactical Amped Cover wall takes some getting used to and is even better at blocking buildings. And its passive and expanding LMG magazine size and reload time don't seem too impressive (a problem that the now lesser-known LMGs and Spitfires hidden in the replicator don't solve).
Also, many players don't seem to realize Rampart's potential as a bunker buster when they play it in the mid game. Instead, many try to use their walls to get into a good position, a tactic that can quickly turn into a death trap if an enemy fuse or caustic appears.
While he can deal some serious damage in the right hands, Rampart's more defensive traits and very weak passive keep him at the bottom of this list.
2) Newcastle
Newcastle reportedly entered the game to fill a very specific niche as a shield piece that was an alternative to Gibraltar and a more active defensive legend that could sell players a superhero fantasy. He jumps even more when he uses his last chance to get to his teammates. Protects the weak by sheltering and protecting fallen teammates from harm. He rushed forward with his movable shield.
Unfortunately, Newcastle still play a big role in defense. And it's a character that Apex players have largely abandoned since launch, with a low pick rate of 1.3% at the time of this writing.
Newcastle actually fights better than some of the other defensive legends as his ultimate gives him a movement ability that can slam him around the map on the fly, which can be used to quickly attack or escape. But he is still a big and bulky character that can be hit very easily by enemies. For the average player who misses in melee, even boosted perks don't make much sense when they're much easier to shoot. And his ability to move while respawning doesn't seem to be as efficient or active as Lifeline's awakening, allowing him to keep fighting by pulling allies back into the fight.
He has a bit more abilities that could make him a great combat character once he gets the hang of it, but since his abilities are still tied to supporting his teammates, he falls behind other characters when it comes to choosing a Legend by majority. . The best player.
1) Cryptocurrency
Perhaps unsurprisingly, Krypto is currently the lowest-ranked character in Apex , which he has been for most of his legendary life. It is very powerful when used correctly. But he's also a character to look out for if you don't mind giving all the glory to your teammates. And that's the problem with Crypto.
All of Crypto's skills revolve around using his drone. He scanned enemies with his drone. He accesses the research transmitter with his drone. Collect friendly banners and bring them to life with your drone. And he used his ultimate passive ability to put his drone in first place. When you play Crypto, you will use drones a lot. And that means you won't often be advancing in combat when your teammates are.
As Crypto, you are playing a completely different game than most other Apex Legends. And most Apex players don't want to play this game, preferring to shoot enemies and kill them for themselves instead of trying to create them for their teammates by hiding in corners.
While the Apex developers love to improve and rework characters with very low cooldown rates, there may not be a solution for Crypto. Despite everything he can do, his core personality remains tied to his drone. And since that is unlikely to change, given that the Crypto drone even has a name and a place in its lore, Crypto is also unlikely to be removed from this list.
