Spellbound, the new Apex Legends collectible event, is out now.
Announced last week, the event brings reward tracks with 24 new cosmetics and four free cosmetics for players to collect. Those who collect all 24 paid cosmetics will receive the Seer's legacy, The Showstoppers. Fuse, Mirage, Seer, Mad Maggie, Vantage, Crypto, and Horizon were among those to receive new legendary skins, many of which also had matching weapon skins.
Spellbound also brings back a community favorite LTM, Control. Two teams of nine compete against each other to capture and hold three points scattered around a point of interest. Control was last regained in October 2022 at the Fight or Fear event. Players have asked developer Respawn Entertainment to make this mode permanent, but the development team has previously said they want to focus on Battle Royale rather than making LTM permanent.
Respawn is using Spellbound to bring one of the most requested features to the Apex community: custom matchmaking for everyone. Now any player can create a private tournament lobby and share the access code with their friends or the community. Respawn has confirmed that private matches require a minimum of 30 players to start a game, as was rumored and investigated last week. The news has disappointed players who want to host a private game for themselves or a small group of friends.
The Spellbound update includes some weapon balance changes. The G7 Scout and CAR SMG appear on Replicators only as developed weapons, while the Spitfire and Peacekeeper return to ground extraction. The Invil Receiver and G7 Scout have been reduced in size, while the Prowler and Sentinel have been improved.
